A BLOG ABOUT THE BRANDS WHO ARE CLEANING UP
FASHION'S DIRTY SECRET
This blog brings together the small & big brands in fashion & clothing who are making beautiful clothes in an ethical way. Your buying power can have purpose: use it to support the good guys & dress to protest.

I have always enjoyed buying & wearing clothes, but when I started reading books like Lucy Siegle's To Die For and watching films like 'The True Cost', shopping in the high street brands I am used to turned sour. When you see the harm that many big brands are doing to the planet and the people on it, and the total disregard they show for their actions, low prices and cute designs are less seductive and more sordid. When I started to realise that my shopping habits fund, propel & justify such brands' business models, it was impossible not to try to make a change.

But it's really hard. Big brands bury information about how their clothes are made & do everything they can to distract us from asking those difficult questions. But great brands do exist if you take the time to find them, and when you do, shopping with them is far more rewarding. Clothes become more than transient trends - they become objects of pride and purpose. So that's why I started this blog: I want to bring those brands together into one place, and spread the word about how wonderful they are, making buying from them that little bit easier.

It is hard to make a perfect brand and many would (quite rightly) argue that the only way to solve the problem is to upheave the status-quo and have an economic and social revolution. But for now, people will continue to shop and brands will continue to produce so in my mind, we need help the shoppers shop better and support and celebrate the brands who are making an effort to do the right thing. It might be the rigour of their production line, the values they promote or how they support communities around the world. My aim is that any brand you find on this blog is doing their bit to change the dire state of the garment industry today.

Because I'm no expert in the problems the world faces today, I have included a section called 'READ, LISTEN, WATCH' which tells you a little bit about books, podcasts and films that I think are well worth your time & consideration.

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and having a nose around. I'm Lucinda and as someone who likes clothes, branding and making the world a little bit better, this blog is my way of bringing them all together.
As the the non-clothing related posts here show, I love a good book, spend an unhealthy amount of time on Instagram, and my favourite things about living in London are the copious amounts of novelty fitness classes to attend, and the endless yummy food to replenish the lost calories with.
