The full story...
Who is Nobody’s Child?
Nobody’s Child is doing fast fashion right: they’ve constantly got one eye on the latest trends, but have the other firmly fixed on an ethical supply chain, and are determined to make ethical fashion affordable.
It’s taken some time, but over the past 10 years Nobody’s child has developed a supply chain that they can control completely. They own their own factories and make sure that they know who makes their garments, where they make them, and with what tools. They’ve got it all covered: ‘today we weave and dye our own fabrics, design and produce our own prints, and make our garments in our own factories’. They own factories in the UK, Asia and Europe, and their knitting factory, dye facility, design centre and distribution warehouse are all based in the UK, with the designing and photography headed up in central London.
Nobody’s Child wanted to make fast fashion with the conscience, and they’ve done just that. They’ve taken matters into their own hands, and although a lot of responsibility comes with that promise, it also allows us to get great trends at great prices, and to support a truly deviant brand.

Why is what they do important?
Nobody’s Child have taken on a mammoth challenge but they’re determined to make good on it. When it comes to the garment industry, and as Nobody’s Child acknowledges themselves, you cannot simply have good intentions or publish a greenwashed campaign every now and again – though many high street brands do. Taking true responsibility for the supply chain means cutting no corners and going beyond ‘good enough’ and towards the best you can be.
The time & money that Nobody’s Child has spent getting to a point where they can call themselves truly responsible and confidently make their ethical promise deserves attention, as they do what many other brands fall short of. It often seems like big brands cower at the sheer size of the task and claim that it is impossible. Nobody’s Child shows that it isn’t.
But where Nobody’s Child really excels is that they do all this without letting it show. When you dig deeper into the brand and read their less obvious communications, you can see how proud they are of what they stand for. But to the normal shopper, they’re just a relatable and inspiring brand making great, affordable clothes, that are sought after by the likes of ASOS and Topshop.
Nobody’s Child proves that a responsible and accountable garment supply chain is not impossible, and that to get people buying clothes they love in an ethical way, it’s worth the effort. If anything, they need to start shouting about it louder.
