Stepping into Keep Boutique is like stepping into your favourite Instagram feed, and I mean that in the best way possible. This delicately curated and thoughtful space nestled in Brixton Village makes home to a collection of ethical clothing, jewellery, candles, books and more, and invites you to get lost in some of the most beautiful and most ethical brands about.
If you’ve never been to Brixton Village before, this will be the first adventure of your visit to Keep Boutique. Just moments from Brixton station, you can enter an indoor market full of delicious food, independent makers and sellers, and once you’ve popped into Cornercopia to ogle at the kitchenware, you can turn the corner to find Keep Boutique. With windows carefully painted with messages such as ‘ethical fashion’ and ‘who made your clothes?’, you’ll know you’re in the right place.

As you walk in, you’ll probably want to take home the whole shop, hanging branch clothes rails and all. With brands such as People Tree, Gung Ho, Quazi Design, Matt & Nat and many more, you can touch, feel, smell, try on and maybe even purchase the brands you’ve probably only seen through a computer screen before – something that when you’re trying to shop more ethically is quite a rarity. From jumpers embroidered with ‘FEMINIST’ and ‘LAS VEGANS’ to office-ready shoes and wonderfully soft and pretty pyjamas, Keep Boutique has it all. Tables you wish could come home with you showcase candles, books and jewellery, too. After having followed Keep Boutique’s carefully styled Instagram feed for a few weeks before visiting, it became clear that they know a thing or two about making things feel like home.
The ethos of Keep Boutique is all in the name: these are the items you buy to last. Everything in the boutique has an ethical story behind it, and are made to outlive trends and impulse puchases. If you visit Keep Boutique’s website, you can read the stories of the manufacturers they stock who are largely small independents and learn more about the company’s purpose and intentions (and also buy online). What a treat to know that someone else has done all the hard work for you.

After a quick chat at the counter with Kate, the boutique’s found, and following their Instagram stories as they celebrated 5 years in business, you can tell that Keep Boutique comes from the heart and is here to stay. Part of the beauty of shopping more ethically is supporting small businesses who are doing things differently, and this is certainly the feeling you’ll get when shopping at Keep Boutique.
If you’re finding scrolling through pages and pages online to find what you need uninspiring, and want to step inside a real shop without worrying about if the clothes you try on align with how you want to shop, then head straight on down to Keep Boutique. You won’t be disappointed.
