The full story:
Who is Reclaimed Vintage?
Reclaimed Vintage belongs to ASOS, and it’s their mission to bring a bit of vintage style to the people. Be careful – there are a number of different ranges in Reclaimed. ‘Reclaimed Vintage Inspired’ is simply vintage-looking pieces, made through the same means as any other ASOS line – so if you’re looking for a decidedly ethical or eco way to shop, this line probably isn’t all the interesting. Straight ‘Reclaimed Vintage’ and ‘Reclaimed Revived’ is where things get interesting.
For its standard range, Reclaimed scours the globes for surplus fabrics and brilliant pieces to upcycle and turn into new ranges. This means that each piece is unique, both because of the clever eyes at Reclaimed doing things a bit differently in their designs, and because the fabric will be one of a kind. 'Reclaimed Revived' hones in on all our military aficionados and finds discarded military pieces and turns them into something to get heads turning.

Why is what they do important?
There is an awful lot of material waste in the garment production line, and reels of fabric can be discarded if too much is ordered or a line is discontinued. Especially when it comes to more luxurious brands, the fabric can be very high quality, but because of the fast-paced industry, little thought is put into re-using it properly. That means companies who put this fabric to great use, like Reclaimed Vintage does in a selection of its pieces, are doing their bit to cut down on the waste in the industry. As for their upcycled and pure vintage pieces, Reclaimed is putting their best foot forward to make the fashion industry a closed circle rather than a system that spits out masses of waste and discarded items into landfill. It may only be one part of Reclaimed’s business, but mainstream fashion brands like ASOS adopting and promoting these principles is a step in the right direction.
